IT'S NOT FUNNY
For too long the image of an unwitting pedestrian strolling care-free down the street only to slip on a banana peel has been the source of amusement. But the reality of this comic gag is not so funny. 465 people were killed or seriously injured in 2007 after slipping on banana peels that had been carelessly discarded on the street. These unfortunate pedestrians had both legs swept out from underneath them causing them to land hard on their backsides severely damaging their coccyx, and in some instances, causing painful bruising to the gluteus maximus.
The rise in popularity of delicious bananas has further increased banana peel-related fatalities.
Do your part. Make sure you discard ALL banana peels in the proper waste receptacles.
